Tactile Image Books

ClearVision is proud to have a unique collection of over 700 especially-made tactile image books. They are ideal for building up touch-skills, including the skills needed to learn to touch-read braille or Moon, but are also loved by children who are going to be large-print readers, or whose learning disabilities mean they may not learn to “read” in the conventional sense, but love exploring the pictures as a story is read to them. The collection includes hand-sewn fabric books, collage books and books with very simple thermoformed illustrations based on real objects (Fingerfun books). They can be borrowed for ages 3 years and up by schools, nurseries, colleges and Sensory Support Services.

To borrow these books you will need to complete, sign and return an additional tactile book form telling us as much as possible about the needs of the children/young people you are borrowing them for. The form opens in a new tab: tactile book form

Many of our fabric tactile books are made by talented volunteers. Making a tactile book is fun and worthwhile. If you would like to give it a try we can give you advice and support. Open a new tab to our Making A Tactile book page.
