Moon

Moon is a touch-reading system based on the letters of the print alphabet. Many feel that it's easier to learn than braille, especially if you've previously read print. Traditionally it has been used by people who have lost their sight later in life and the Deaf-blind community, but is not widely used today and ClearVision is one of the few sources of Moon books. It is sometimes used by children who have a sight impairment and aren't able to learn braille for a variety of reasons, such as learning disabilities or reduced sensitivity in their fingertips. We have a small collection of very simple books and tactile books with added Moon text in the ClearVision library. To allow the maximum number of people to access this collection, schools, Sensory Support Services etc. are sent half a loan at a time and allowed to change it twice as often.

We also have some issues of the Moon Mag for loan, designed for teenagers and adults. Currently, we have a small number of Moon teaching resources to give away, please contact us if you'd like some these.
