Ten Little Ladybirds with Moon Text

In recent years there has been considerable interest in the use of Moon with visually-impaired children who, for whatever reason, are not able to learn braille. Traditionally used by people who have lost their sight late in life, Moon was invented by Doctor William Moon in the 19th century. It is based on the letters of the print alphabet and is much easier to learn than braille. Two of the main disadvantages of Moon are the fact that is takes up much more space than braille and there is no manual way to produce it satisfactorily. For some v.i. children, however, it is proving to be the best way to read.

We now have a small collection of very simple books with added Moon text in the ClearVision library.

The Moon Forum meets twice a year to discuss various aspects of Moon teaching, resources and development. Contact ClearVision if you would like to go on the Moon Forum mailing list.
